I thought it was spring......??

Friday: snow and rain in the morning, then rain and snow showers in the afternoon. Snow level 500 feet or less. Local light snow accumulations. Highs around 45. Southeast wind 10 to 20 mph shifting to the west 15 to 25 mph in the afternoon.

We're supposed to have 1-3" to the valley floor tomorrow morning! Ack!

mmmmm dirt........

Well folks, Dad has started to till the back field for planting. We measured the area that will be planted and it's about 1 acre, the whole property is about 5 acres. Dad decided renting the tractor would be the best/easiest way to turn that much sod. I think Mom has finished ordering all her seeds for planting, and her little greenhouse is all done, so we will be able to get the starts going really soon, maybe this weekend.
The chicks are one week old now and already are not as cute. There are officially 38 chicks, which is what Mom paid for, however when we first counted there were 40, but two have died. So we're not sure if they intentionally give a few extra since the morbidity rate is high, or if it was an accident. In any case, there are 38 that are doing well, it takes about 5 months before they start laying eggs, so around august we will be able to add eggs to the CSA shares and take to the farmers market, and whoa baby that's like 18dozen a week!
I had a loooooong meeting today. It was mandatory. It was on communication and personality types. I was totally thinking, uhh hello? Psych major here....do I really have to go to this thing? But alas, yes I did, and 4 hours later.....I had learned nothing I didn't already know. But hey, I didn't have to answer the phone for 4 hours, so that's good right?
