Walking at Lewisville Park

I've been walking with a friend three days a week for several weeks now. Monday and today we went to Lewisville park which is in Battle Ground, WA. It's very pretty and much nicer then walking on the road. This trail has lots of hills so it makes for a good work out, but it's not very long so we had to turn around and walk it a few times to get our full hour of exercise. The trail doesn't go past the river, but I had to include a few pictures of it anyway, very pretty :)

Car? What car?

Yeah, that's right, it's broken AGAIN. We picked it up yesterday morning and it ran great. I drove it to Battle Ground today for the farmers market and it ran great. When we went to leave it started just fine but none of the gears work. Nice huh? So we had to wait for the tow truck. I called A&M Auto already and they'll work on it first thing Monday. I hate being without a car!!!!!!
On the up side, at least it didn't break while driving/on the freeway etc...

*9/15*
So, they couldn't find anything wrong with it. They drove it a couple times today and it was fine. Great. So now I just get to hope it was a fluke and doesn't happen again and leave me somewhere! I hate car problems!!!!
Oh and I looked up the bluebook value to see what we could get for it and it's gone down $1900 in the last 18 months! Isn't that crazy?! So now it's only worth about $3200. Ugh cars....

Bread and Veggies

So I was reading on http://www.hillbillyhousewife.com/familybread.htm about making bread. Great site by the way, lots of good money saving ideas, thanks sis!

So I got to thinkin, hey, we have a bread machine...somewhere...So George and I braved the 'crawlspace/storage' area to find it. After many, many, many cobwebs, we found it in a box in the middle of the pile of stuff, of course. To make it more fun, there is no manual. So the google seach began, and I was able to find the website for the brand/maker and they provide a pdf copy of the manual (for all the different models) and a supplemental booklet/pdf of recipes, Yay!

So I made oatmeal bread yesterday. It was very yummy. I think there is a little left, but not much. Today I'm making 'Old Fashioned White Bread' we'll see....I don't think I would be making bread if I had to do it all by hand, but it's fun to dump everything in the machine and press start, and wahla! Bread!

The garden is really producing now. We've had some funky weather here this summer, not the best for growing veggies. But now the sun is out and the temp has been really nice, and the plants are happy. It's still strange that the tomatoes are mostly green and it's September, we are really hoping the weather holds long enough for most of them to turn color, or what a waste that will be! I think Mom counted the plants and we have about 85, and 13 different varieties.

This is an example of what is in a 'share' box, this is actually a half share, need a reminder about the veggie share stuff? Look at Creative Outlet Nursery and Farms

Here's some boxes of stuff waiting to go to the farmers market tomorrow

It's a little hard to see, but the honeybees like to drink from our fountain, cute huh?

Isn't he cute? :)

Oh and we bought my car back today.... $1343

My Car

So my car decided to make a funny noise last week. Just FYI, funny noises are expensive.
It turned out to be something with the differential/transmission breaking...yeah....did you hear that cha-ching sound?

That's right folks,
we get to buy the car back,
hopefully tomorrow,
for about $1300.

Bad thing since that's a lot of money for us, seeing as how I'm unemployed and all. But it would have been a real hassle if George had to drive me to and from work so ehh, life goes on. As my Dad would say, maintenance is just part of the privilege of owning a car!
