OSU, Bronchitis, Trimester Two, Garden
Okay, it's been a while, I know.....
Yesterday Mom and I went down to OSU for the Small Farms Conference. It was interesting. There were several different sessions you could attend, each about an hour long. We learned about advertising, promotion, weed control, food safety, and a few other things. It was a long long day, two hours down there and two back, it started at 8 am and finished at about 5pm. It might not have seemed so long if I had some sleep the night before. But my poor Georgie has been really sick since Friday. Icky fever, coughing, sore throat, aches and pains, basically the flu. I felt bad leaving him here on Saturday, but he survived.
We went to the urgent care this morning since our dr office is closed and his fever hasn't let up, oh and he started coughing up nasty brownish green stuff. It's very strange for him to be sick. We were both trying to remember the last time he was actually sick and not allergy sick. It's been years. But he's really getting hit hard this time, probably because he was working so hard the last few weeks on some pretty stressful stuff at PSU. Anyway, we went to the urgent care downtown, and after about three hours, a chest xray, and maybe two minutes with the doc, we were out with the dx of bronchitis. So now he's on some meds that will hopefully work quickly and get him feeling better!
We've been trying to be really careful about hand washing and not spreading this ickiness. I really don't want to get sick, aside from the obvious I don't want to be sick, I'm worried about being sick and pregnant since I can't take a bunch of over the counter meds. So far so good. Ummm prego wise I'm good. Still not showing, well not enough for anyone else to notice! I'll take a picture when you can see something. I have more energy now, and I'm starting to get hungry again. I haven't stepped on the scale for a while but I'm pretty sure the weight loss is over! My next OB appt is March 2nd, just for the routine stuff. The ultrasound will be some time towards the end of March.
Garden stuff is going well. We've planted lots of blueberries (28), 10 of 12 grape plants, more strawberries, a fig tree, a rainier cherry tree, a bartlet pear-still going to add one more, an asian pear, a plum tree, and a persimmon tree. I trimmed down the rest of the roses to about knee high, but still need to thin them out/final prune before they really start growing, which will probably be this coming week since our weather has been in the 60's. We haven't started the veggies yet, but that will be very soon also. Oh and I really need to go check on the dahlia tubers in the basement, they probably need a little water.
Okay, I think that's everything....

Valentines and other stories
Saturday was very fun! George and I slept in which was great since he's been getting up extra early for work the last two weeks. Mom and I drove down to a nursery called One Green World. It's down by Oregon City/Mollala, so it was about an hour drive in the pickup (aka noisy/bumpy). We bought lots of new fruit plants! Six trees, 10 grape plants, more strawberries, and a few other little things. Oh and before the nursery we went over to the Hongle berry farm and got blueberry bushes. We picked up half (9) and are getting the rest tomorrow. Did you know it takes about 10 years for a blueberry to reach full maturity? They will also produce for 100+ years if well cared for. Gary Hongle knows a lot, and will tell you everything if you have enough time.....he's a talker! But a really nice guy :)
We got home about 3pm and George had made me nummy pink rice crispy treats! Then Jamie and Galen came over about 3:30 so we got to squish the fussy baby. Dad made an awesome dinner for everyone, sooo good! Salad with avacado and tiny shrimp, Steak on the bbq and baked potatoes. He also brought home creme brule and cake! I wish I could have eaten more, it was all so good. I think I went into a food coma, fell asleep on the couch at 8pm! I'm glad there's leftovers for dinner tonight.
On a sad note, my Mom's cat Molly died last night. She was really (really) old, and had been going downhill for the last few days so we were expecting it. She was 21yrs old this year, I don't remember not having that cat around. She will be missed.

Yay 12 weeks :)
So I'm feeling pretty good. Not as tired as I was in the last few weeks, but now I'm having some dizziness. So I looked it up online and guess what? Here's what it says for 12 weeks:
Don't look now (though — considering the symptom — maybe you should), there's a new one added to the mix: dizziness. And guess who's to blame? Yup — it's your old friend progesterone again, which causes your blood vessels to relax and widen around 12 weeks pregnant, increasing the flow of blood to your baby (again, good for baby), but slowing the return of blood to you (as always, not so good for mom). Less blood flow to you means lower blood pressure and reduced blood flow to your brain. All of these can contribute to that light-headed, dizzy feeling
I guess it's good that I'm right on schedule? So no bump yet, still get to wear my usual pants. Still losing about 1.5lbs a week, thought this was supposed to be a weight gaining program?? I'm sure it'll start going the other way soon enough!
It's been nice and sunny here the last few days, and is supposed to be for a while. So guess what that means? Yup yard work! I started trimming roses yesterday, darn things think it's time to start growing already. Goals are to finish the roses, trim fruit trees, and maybe transplant some strawberries. Mom has most of her seeds here now, two shoe boxes full! So we will be starting some of those in the greenhouse pretty soon. Ahh makes it seem like spring is almost here!
