What's for dinner?

Lentil Soup

¼ cup veg. Oil
1/5 lb minced bacon or chopped ham ** I use kilbasa sausage
¾ cup diced carrots
¾ cup diced onion
¾ cup diced celery
¾ cup flour
3 ½ qts water
1 cup lentils
1 tsp salt
2 tsp seasoned salt
2 bay leaves
1 tsp thyme
¼ cup beef base
pinch nutmeg
pinch pepper
¾ cup diced potatoes

Saute’ bacon/ham, carrots, onion & celery in oil until onion & celery are transparent. Add flour, stir constantly. Slowly add water while stirring. Add remaining ingredients. Simmer for approx. 3 hours. **Or until veggies are cooked about 45mins if you're really hungry!

...do you have to pre-soak the lentils?

No lentil soaking required! Just rinse them first and then dump in the pot :)
